I. Quang Binh Paradise Cave: an artistic masterpiece of nature 

1.1 Where is Paradise Cave? 

Thien Duong cave, or Paradise cave, is a cave of the limestone cave complex, belonging to the Phong Nha–Ke Bang national primeval forest ecosystem. More specifically, Paradise Cave is located at km 16, west branch of Ho Chi Minh Road, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province. Paradise Cave was only recently discovered in 2005 by a cave expert from the Royal British Cave Association. With a total length of 31.4km, a width of about 30–100 m, and a depth of about 60–80 m, Paradise Cave is assessed by the Association as the longest dry cave in Asia and one of the caves with the highest quality. Paradise Cave is like an underground palace. 

Previously, when allowed to welcome visitors in 2009, visitors to Quang Binh Paradise Cave were only allowed to visit the first 1.5 km. Later, visitors can explore deeper, up to 7 km , to admire the majestic and massive beauty of what feels like an underground paradise. 

 

To get to Paradise Cave, visitors can depart from Dong Hoi City, go along Ho Chi Minh Road, about 68 km away, or go from Hue, with a distance of 238.9 km. 

 

Because it is hidden deep underground and in the national forest area, although it has been present for a long time, only after being discovered recently has Thien Duong cave become known to many tourists. According to some information, Thien Duong Cave, which is dated from 350–400 million years ago, was formed in the ancient karst geology ...

 

Not only Vietnamese tourists, but foreign tourists who come here to visit are also overwhelmed by the magnificent structure, rock formations, stalactites, and sunlight shining with beautiful colors, like an underground palace. Perhaps that is why most tourists do not mind the challenging Paradise Cave tour—to enjoy the feeling of being in another land underground.

 

1.2 When should you go to Paradise Cave? 

Because it is located under a ground stream and there are also underground streams, the temperature in the cave is extremely cool, only 20 to 21 degrees Celsius. 

Therefore, Paradise Cave is always the first choice for tourists traveling to avoid the heat. Stepping into the cave, visitors will surely be surprised by the spiritual beauty of the stalactites here. The stalactites are formed naturally, forming strange but harmonious shapes to create extremely beautiful shapes. 

And yet, these strange shapes reflect sunlight to create patches of light of different colors. So it is no exaggeration to say that Paradise Cave is strangely beautiful, just like its name. 

The interesting thing is that the rocks and stalactites here have absolutely no human hands but have a beautiful shape, symbolizing Vietnamese culture.

 Some unique shapes highlighting the magic of nature are: terraced fields, Tien Ong, Buddha Ba, Lotus Tower, Champa Tower,... Visitors to Paradise Cave will certainly not be disappointed with the landscape here.

II. Explore Quang Binh Paradise Cave

 2.1 Conquer the challenging ladder to paradise.

" From the gate of the Paradise Cave tourist area to the foot of the mountain is quite a distance. Visitors can choose to walk under the forest canopy or take a tram to the foot of the mountain. After reaching the foot of the mountain, visitors still have to go up a ladder or slope to reach the cave entrance. 

Due to being located deep in the primeval forest of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, the road to Paradise Cave is winding, forcing visitors to climb 500 steps to reach the cave entrance.

Visitors have to go up stairs or slopes to reach the mouth of Paradise Cave.

In addition to stairs, visitors who want to be more challenged can choose to go to the cave with a 570-meter-long slope from the foot of the mountain to the mouth of the cave. 500 artificial steps were built around the rocky mountainside to help visitors easily access Paradise Cave. After going all 500 steps, or 570 meters, up the slope, visitors will see the entrance to the cave. The door leading down to the cave is on a narrow path 15 meters long, just long enough for one person to feel the mystery of this cave.

The wooden bridge was built by the management board of Paradise Cave with a width of about 3.5 m and is quite sophisticated, with large round stalactites to make the space down to the cave more vivid. The deeper you go into the cave, the more you will enjoy seeing the wonderful space gradually appear before your eyes.

 

2.3  Enjoy the wonderful view of paradise inside the cave.

 After crossing the wooden bridge and entering the depths of Quang Binh Paradise Cave, a fairy-like landscape will begin to appear before your eyes. Stalactites here have been formed and experienced for thousands of years, so the stalactites have a timeless beauty. The rocks and stalactites have many different shapes. In addition, when receiving light, it also reflects light in different colors, making the whole cave sometimes bright like a fairy scene, sometimes colorful, full of shimmer, and mystical. Or sometimes come across rare, beautiful white stalactites like marble.

Talking about the shape of the rocks and stalactites in the cave, Paradise Cave possesses more diverse shapes than other caves in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang cave complex. Visitors will encounter the wet rocks and stalactites, which glitter iridescently when meeting the light. 

As mentioned, the stalactite blocks with their many shapes imbued with Vietnamese culture are symbols, describing the characteristics of each region. This is truly a miracle when, completely without human hands, it is possible to create images of terraced fields, Tien Ong, Buddha Ba, a lotus tower,...

2.4 Underground Springs Quang Binh

 Paradise Cave has an impressive underground stream system. Visitors can rent a kayak to paddle along the stream. Here, under the guidance of boating experts, visitors can safely enjoy the scenery and marvel at the masterpiece of the cave dome with sparkling stalactites above their heads.

In addition, while sailing, visitors can feel the cool water in the stream. Therefore, Quang Binh Paradise Cave is a great destination for tourists to avoid the summer heat. 

The journey to cross the stream is considered by many to be the most interesting part of the journey to discover Paradise Cave. The closer you get to the end of the cave, the lower the dome becomes. There is even a section where visitors have to lie down so that the boat can pass without hitting the ceiling, and there is a section where you have to bend down at the end to return to the marina.

 

2.5 Skylights 

After crossing the underground stream, visitors need to conquer another part to reach the skylight. In addition to the underground stream, admiring and checking in with the skylight is one of the most impressive things about coming to Quang Binh Paradise Cave.

Visitors will have to conquer 7 kilometers of Paradise Cave to reach the Sky Well. 

There is a pillar of light shining straight from the sky to the bottom of the cave. The skylight is also the place with the most beautiful and brightest light in Paradise Cave. Many tourists like to conquer Heaven's Well at Paradise Cave because it has the beauty of the harmony between heaven and earth.
